One of the toughest jobs anyone can face is that of parenting. This is an obvious statement to anyone who has tried their hand at parenting. One of the most difficult areas is to be able to schedule and organize family and a full time job particularly when both parents are working. This is an area that can easily create much frustration and moments of overwhelm. It is important that there be a basis to start from in scheduling. Keeping track can be confusing for sure and taking time to get organized will benefit everyone in the long run.
An excellent way to begin to get a handle on the overwhelming scheduling task of a family with full time working parents is to write it all down. This may seem obvious but it is truly the key to controlling the madness. Using a white board is an excellent way to organize the masses. These come in a variety of styles including a version with four months at a glance on it. Here you can keep track of everyone’s important events. It is a good idea to put everyone’s schedule on this whiteboard not just the children’s. Each family member should be given a particular color of marker and all appointments for that person should be written in the corresponding color.
This is just one way to organize the schedule of a family with parents who work full time. While it is an excellent idea for children to have activities outside of school and home, caution should be taken not to over commit the children or the parents. Making sure there is some time left in the schedule for family time is important to creating a bond between the family members is important to keeping a strong family and to keeping the self esteem levels high in the children.
