There are challenges facing every parent and with the tight economy of today it is vital that every penny be accounted for in budgeting. This can be a difficult thing to accomplish when you are busy running back and forth to school events and getting to and from work on a daily basis. It is often difficult to fit in any budgeting amidst the constant scheduling stresses of family life. There are a few things that can be done to cut the budget without having to make dramatic changes.
Carpooling may seem like a small thing but if you sit down and figure out how much money you are spending running children back and forth for event and yourself to and from work you would find a good bit of money invested. Try working with other parents to see if there is a way you can alternate rides to and from the events. This can cut down on the use of gas consumption dramatically. It is also a great way to free up your schedule to some degree reducing the amount of stress.
Pack lunches and snacks even for the days you plan to spend out and about delivering children to and from activities. It is all too easy to run into a fast food drive thru on the way to and from an activity when you know you will be continuing to rush around throughout the day. If you are able to plan ahead and prepare meals including lunches and snacks in the car and dinner when you arrive home you will not only relieve significant stress related to your day but it will also save a fair amount of money. Simple changes to your everyday schedule can make a difference in both the stress level and the expenses in your home.
