The Kids and Me

Yes, mom is often the main caregiver in most all households. She takes the kids to and from school, their practices, sports, activities, friends houses, and she’s also the one to cook the meals, clean the house and keep the house in smooth working order.

No doubt that there are a lot of responsibilities that fall on mom. Whether or not dad is present, or otherwise obligated in job duties, there are ways that dad can help out around the house and with the kids. Sometimes dads may have the desire to want to help, but don’t have the time or know how to do the things that will help out the most.

Moms would agree that they would be more than happy to show dad some things to do to help out! With just a slight bit of effort and lots of available time, here are some things that dad can do to help with the kids and all of the things that surround their young lives:

1.) Be the driver. Moms are often the one who takes the kids and picks them up too, but dad can help out tremendously by picking the kids up from their activities. This is good if he gets off work at a later time, that way he can just pick them up on his way home.

2.) Be the entertainer. Especially with young kids, entertaining them can be a big job. Dad can absorb some of that job by taking them outside for activities, or engaging them in other activities that will keep them occupied for long time periods.

3.) Be the disciplinarian. Yes, moms are often the bad guy. Dads can help by laying down the rules and enforcing them if they’re broken. Instead of waiting until dad gets home, he can take care of the problem, right then and there.
